Karoline Schreiber
Karoline Schreiber is one of the most important Swiss draftswomen of her generation. The artist is currently working on a monument mural project for the Kunst am Bau project in a prison in Pfäffikon, which Schreiber won in 2024. She had a roster of international shows including New Delhi and Shanghai last year as well as a show at the graphische Sammlung at ETH. Her highly productive oeuvre includes not only drawing but also painting, performance, and text. Using a variety of visual languages, ranging from spidery cartoonesque depictions to virtuoso mastery, the artist addresses both political world events and private situations, human inadequacies or the conditions of the art system in her works. Again and again, the seriousness of the depicted conditions tips over into the mischievously surreal and also into the latently uneasy. Works in institutional collections (selection): Bern, Kunstsammlung der Gruppe Mobiliar; Bern, Sammlung Carola und Günther Ketterer- Ertle; Biel, Kunstverein/Kunsthaus Pasquart; London, Contemporary Art Society; Kanton Zürich, Kunstsammlung; Stadt Zürich, Kunstsammlung.
