Ladina Brunner CV
Ladina Brunner, born in 1998 in London (UK) to Swiss parents, graduated with a BA from the University of Edinburgh (UK). Having travelled the world since early childhood and been raised in Bermuda, Ladina found inspiration in nature and exotic cultures. Ladina started her artistic practice within the sculpture medium and working with ink on paper. Her exceptional skill as a draftswoman brought her to discover dotwork, a laborious and filigree process, creating tactile, sensual representations of classic subjects such as nudes and sea creatures.
For Ladina, dot work is much more than just drawing, it is about understanding the relationship between the hand, the tip of the pen and the textures that are created. Ladina often starts and finishes one drawing with the same pen, growing attached to it as she observes the way each dot changes in accordance to the way she holds and moves it. One pen belongs to one artwork, as it has built an identity though the imagery that can not be replicated. Ladina lives and works between London and Zurich.
